The University of Denver Museum of Anthropology (DUMA) seeks a qualified
candidate for the position of Contract Research Archaeologist to assist in
the implementation of the Native American Graves Protection and
Repatriation Act. The Archaeologist will research museum records and
scholarly resources in order to suggest cultural affiliation determinations
for 31 sets of Native American human remains housed at DUMA. The
Archaeologist will also research specific Southwestern archaeological sites
within the United States (including but not limited to New Mexico, Arizona,
Colorado, and Utah) as a means of recommending cultural affiliation
determinations . The position is a temporary, non-benefited position not to
exceed 160 hours.

Qualifications
Minimum of an M.A. in Anthropology with specialization in Archaeology,
Ph.D. preferred. Experience in working with museum collections and NAGPRA
(Native American Graves Protection Repatriation Act). Knowledge and
understanding of Native American cultures and peoples. Experience in
writing archaeological reports. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
