Henry, an interesting idea.  But as you stated, there could be major
problems.  Primarily a large conflict of interest.  This may or may not
be the case but there sure would be an appearance of a conflict of
interest.  Anything along this line should be avoided.  Just the
appearance would hinder their performance.  I think they would end up be
less than effective board members or worse.  The potential for damage to
an individual's own reputation and ability to perform their duties at
their own job could put placed in jeopardy by other peoples
interpretation and reaction to actions taken as a board member of
another museum.  If the board of trustees wants input from this group of
people they should ask them to work as consultants to the board andd its
various committees.  It is not necessary to be a voting member of a
board to provide expert knowledge and input which would ultimately
effect any decisions made by that board.
