There's still space for the CARE poster session! If you reach
Lisa Mackinney by January 31, you can be listed in the AAM
program. Submissions for the poster session may also be
considered beyond that date. The deadline for Current Trends
articles is still February 1.

The AAM Committee on Audience Research and Evaluation will
continue the tradition of a poster session and publication of
_Current Trends in Audience Research & Evaluation_ at the 1997
American Association of Museums Meeting. The papers will be
published and available for purchase at the poster session on
April 26 in Atlanta.

"Posters" describing a visitor study, survey, evaluation, or
research project are encouraged. Topics from any area of
audience research and evaluation including audience outreach,
exhibit or program design, label and multimedia design and
content, public relations and marketing, school museum
programs, visitor learning, visitor services, wayfinding and
orientation, are appropriate. CARE welcomes the participation
of staff, consultants, faculty and students in all areas of
the field. Presenters will receive easy-to-follow guidelines,
will be provided with table space and bulletin boards, and
should be prepared to discuss their studies with interested
delegates.

If you would like to participate in the poster session and to
be listed in the AAM program, please e-mail, FAX, or send a
message to Lisa Mackinney by January 31, including the title
of the study, the full names, titles, and institutional
affiliations of those who should be credited, the name and
contact information (address, phone, e-mail, and/or FAX) of
the person who should be contacted for further information.

Please also send an abstract of no more than 250 words
describing your study. (This can follow by February 14 if
you're pinched for time now.) The abstract should summarize
the study, include procedures you followed to conduct it, and
describe how the information is being utilized. Be sure to
include who should be contacted for further information, the
title of the study, and your organization's address and phone
number.

To have your poster listed in the AAM program, the deadline
for _receipt_ of initial contact is January 31, 1997 to Lisa
Hubbell Mackinney, Program Evaluator, California Academy of
Sciences, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA 94118; e-mail
[log in to unmask]; tel. (415) 750-7011; FAX (415) 750-
7013.

If you would like to submit an article of 3-7 pages on such a
study for Current Trends, please request guidelines from Jean
Kalata, Smithsonian Institution Office of Institutional
Studies, e-mail [log in to unmask]; tel. (202) 786-2289; FAX
(202) 786-2648. The deadline for submissions to Current Trends
(hard copy, camera ready graphics, and disk) is February 1,
1997 to Zahava Doering, Smithsonian Institution Office of
Institutional Studies.
