Sorry, Robbin, I disagree.  I think that too often the art world is
satisfied to just talk to itself.  Then we wonder why a large segment of
the public expects contemporary art to be something obscure and alienating,
rather than something that could bring joy, wonder, excitement and intellectual
stimulation to their lives.  And *then* we wonder why Congress can get
away with slashing away at the NEA budget.  It is in the vital interest
of those of us who are producers and presenters of art to speak clearly,
and when we use new terminology, to define our terms so that the
broadest possible
audience is invited to experience what we have to offer.
