You may not be aware, but they just moved from 3.0 to 3.5. I haven't found
any significant changes, but I'm still exploring. The 3.5 upgrade is free to
all 3.0 users (2.x users are charged a reduced upgrade rate).

|I really feel I must chime in here. I have never had the problem
|that James describes below, although I have noticed that in an
|older version, it occasionally would retain a "ghost image" in
|some fields from a prior record. The "ghost" would then disappear
|once I was in edit mode and clicked within the field. That may be
|the phenomenon that he is experiencing, I don't know. But we have
|entered 18,000 records and attached hundreds of images and PPS is
|working for us. Like Erica said, it can be buggy, but if you
|update regularly (available free on their website except for major
|upgrades) many problems are fixed along the way. I have also
|mentioned a problem I was having, only to find the change after
|the next update I downloaded. 3.0 is much improved over 2.0 and
|fixed many of the problems I had. (spell check, yay!). All of
|that said, I still think PPS is the most bang for your buck. It
|has some problems and limitations, but it's better than paying
|thousands of dollars for a system that can be just as buggy.
|
|And I've found PastPerfect customer service to be nothing but
|helpful. If you don't get the help you need with tech support,
|especially if you've paid for a year's support, you should call
|back and ask for a supervisor. Your question could have simply
|gotten lost in the shuffle.

|Two years ago the site I work at decided to go to Past Perfect
|because of its cost in a time when budgets are tight. At first
|everything went well, we transferred much of the information we
|had from Excel over into the system. So my account here cannot base
|problems on anything but Past Perfect. As we went along inputting
|artifact after artifacts( we only have about 1200) problems began
|to developed. First we realized when you input anything into the
|condition area and update it you lose all previous data. The same
|occurred in several other areas. We called Past Perfect to tell
|the about this serious problem and we got an "oh yea" we'll get
|back to you.well were still waiting a month later for their
|solution. We loved the program because of simplicity, but now
|realize we traded a lot for it. Were still using it and trying to
|come up with solutions ourselves.
