Dear Kathi,

We use Re:discovery which allows for the input of deaccessioned objects,
loans in, loans out, etc. These are set up as sort of mini databases within
the larger scheme of the collections management database. For example, I have
to go into the deaccession database in order to get a deaccession number,
etc. to input in the collections record so that everything is tied together.
It makes tracking objects that have left the property much simpler than going
through various files of paperwork each and every time. Of course this has to
be done the first time around in order to enter the data but after that it
will be much simpler for those that come after us to see what the disposition
of certain objects were.

I hope this helps!

Best of luck.

Regards,
 Ginger M. Young, Registrar
