The SFCMC is pleased to announce that our term Archives Technician vacancy
announcement has been posed on USA Jobs (www.usajobs.gov) today,
10/29/2010.
                                                                            
                                                                            
                                                                            
     The incumbent serves as an archives technician at the South Florida    
      Collections Management Center (SFCMC), which manages the museum       
 collections for Big Cypress National Preserve, Biscayne National Park, De  
 Soto National Memorial, Dry Tortugas National Park and Everglades National 
 Park.  Combined, these five south Florida parks have archival collections  
   in excess of 3.6 million items.  The incumbent will serve as part of a   
 project team working to address the backlog of uncataloged archives.  The  
   position is supervised by the SFCMC project archivist.  The incumbent    
  utilizes professional archives principles and techniques to catalog and   
   rehouse historical and resource management documents, photographs, and   
    other media.  Under direct supervision of the project archivist, the    
 incumbent carries out processing, arrangement and description of archival  
    collections, conducts preservation rehousing and assesses collection    
 condition.  The technician prepares processing plans, catalog records, and 
 finding aids, among other documents.  Other responsibilities include using 
 the Interior Collections Management System (ICMS), including the archives  
                module to catalog records and finding aids.
