In our 1994 master interpretive planning for the Oregon Historical
Society's core exhibits, American History Workshop collaborated with OHS
staff to devise an exhibit on the history of the Willamette River valley
through a series of visitor-interactive simulations of key
decision-points, including the Land Donation act which distributed land
to American settlers in the 1850s and going up to the establishment of
urban land boundaries in Senate Bill 100 around 1970, and to current
issues.  As far as I know, this is still the basic assumption of the
plan.  I know that Marsha Matthews of OHS is on museum-l, and you can
probably get some information from her or from Eva Bernhardt at
