In my opinion, the answer comes down to Mac or Windows?

If you use a Mac, or are willing to buy a new Mac, you can get a good
quality iMac and a good quality printer for not too much money. Also, get a
copy of Apple's "iWork" office suite- much cheaper than Microsoft Office and
fully compatible. They have a word processing and page layout program called
"Pages" which has some really nice templates for newsletters. Also, it's
easy to learn and much more professional looking than Microsoft Publisher,
which is the scourge of most professional graphic artists, layout
professionals, and print shops.

If you use a Windows machine, you can invest in a program called "The Print
Shop" from Broderbund Software. It's user friendly and has some decent
templates.

Another option is to see if a local community college has design/layout
students who would be willing to do the work for you, for little to no
cost...
