I am not aware of any publication on the history of (museum) models, but
about dioramas you'll find useful information in: Karen Wonders, Habitat
dioramas. Illusions of wilderness in museums of natural history (Uppsala
1993) ISBN 91-554-3157-7. As far as I know the most complete book on the
history of dioramas.
