"Approaches to Visitor Research and Exhibit Evaluation: Some Examples
from Down Under"

Dr. Léonie Rennie, an Associate Professor at the Science and Mathematics
Education Center at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western
Australia, will be speaking on the status of visitor research and
exhibit evaluation in Australia.  Léonie will present brief case studies
of several projects to illustrate the range of visitor research and
evaluation studies presently being carried out in Australia.  These
studies will include front-end evaluation for a new Australian War
Museum, enhancing multi-cultural participation in museums, learning
about visitors from the perceptions of the floor staff and investigating
how play and exploration of children in science centers facilitates
learning. This seminar is open and interactive to provide opportunities
to learn from each other.
