Good afternoon everyone. My name is Gabe and I am a second year graduate student at IUPUI in the Museum Studies program. This fall semester I will be exploring the use of transmediation and transmedia storytelling in museums and exhibits.

Transmediation and transmedia storytelling is the process of telling stories across different mediums. I am interested in how museums are using different platforms to tell object stories to increase audience engagement and enhance the experience of our visitors. Our visitors all have different learning needs, so incorporating digital technologies and interpretation methods allows our audiences to access information important to them without being hindered by their varied learning abilities or needs.

My research will focus on a few key points:
- How is transmedia storytelling being used in various museums? Text and object labels are still important, but is your institution using sound, video, apps, interactive displays to pique the interest of the audience to learn more about an object or topic? Are you giving the audience any freedom in the interpretation of an object and its story?

- Did the use of various storytelling platforms of an object or event allow for greater audience interpretation? Did this increase audience stay times and visitation?

- By giving the audience some control in the interpretive process, did they interpret things not originally seen by the museum staff? If so, how will this change your exhibit planning and object story telling in the future?

I am hoping to do a few case studies of some unique methods that are being used, so any input on how or if you are using different platforms to communicate object stories to your audiences will be appreciated.

Thanks.
