How about Sutter's Fort?  The docents are great.

But it gets to be hotter than Hades in Sacramento this
time of the year.  Pack accordingly, but bring an
overwrap of some sort.

Two years ago, when I was in Sac, at the very small
State Museum concerning Indians (don't remember title
but it's on the same property as Sutter's Fort) the
most moving thing to see was the exhibit on Ishi:
