But I agree - It DOES have more meaning because it so poignantly expresses
the idea of "America Attacked." And no, it need not be saved instead of
anything else, but in addition; of course we don't need all the debris, but
a representative and meaningful sample is being collected, along with the
"missing" posters, shrines, and other artifacts. I do think the public's
interest in seeing and discussing and debating this object overrides the
American Legion's desire to treat it just like any other damaged flag.
