This posting is about artist fees and the Canadian copyright
regulation.

We are in the process of creating a virtual exhibit that will
feature the
works of contemporary artists. Each of these signed a
copyright/exhibition
agreement when the individual works were purchased. However,
the agreements
do not cover use of the works in a virtual exhibition that will be 'out
there' on the net (ienot on our web page),and CARFAC does not have a fee
scale for such an eventuality. Have any of you ventured into this area? I
know there is some debate about a digitised image being subject to copyright
but I'm not sure whether thiswas resolved.. I know the copyright act has
just been amended but I don't have the amended version as yet.

I don'tknow whether thisis of interest to many people, so please fee free to
reply off list.

Many thanks
