Excerpts from the Foundation Center's RFP Bulletin

(1) Rockefeller Foundation Offers Funding for
Community
Cultural Development Projects

Deadline: May 17, 2002

A program of the Rockefeller Foundation's Creativity &
Culture Division, Partnerships Affirming Community
Transformation (PACT) is designed to recognize and
enhance the critical role that arts and culture play
in fostering the health of low-income neighborhoods
and communities of color. This highly competitive
program supports projects undertaken by artists and
other cultural professionals in collaboration with
other community members to express identity, concerns,
and aspirations through the arts and media, building
cultural capacity, and contributing to social change.

In the 2002 funding round, grants will be given to a
range of U.S.-based projects in which community
artists or teams use their artistic and organizing
skills to advance the development of an identified
community, be it geographic (e.g., a neighborhood or
small town), a community of interest (e.g., shipyard
workers, victims of environmental racism), or any
other affinity (e.g., Latino teenagers, elders who use
a senior center). Grant amounts will range from
$10,000 to $50,000 per project per year, depending on
scope and need. Funding requests may cover project
periods ranging from twelve months to three years. The
grant application must be made by a tax-exempt
organization that is a partner in the process and
which acts in a fiduciary capacity as the formal grant
recipient.

For complete guidelines and application information,
see the Rockefeller Foundation Web site.

(2) Applications Invited for 2002 Emily Hall Tremaine
Exhibition Awards

Deadline: April 15, 2002

Through the Emily Hall Tremaine Exhibition Award, the
Tremaine Foundation seeks to support the creation of
thematic art exhibitions that are experimental,
challenging, and focused. The award is not intended to
provide funding for exhibitions already scheduled but
to stimulate the development of a new idea.

Museum curators and qualified individuals in
partnership with an established nonprofit exhibition
space are eligible to apply. The proposal should be
for a strong, thematic exhibition that puts the works
of contemporary art and/or architecture in a new or
unconventional aesthetic, historical, cultural, and/or
social framework.

Funding requests (for U.S.-based exhibitions only)
may be for up to $100,000.

The Tremaine Exhibition Award should be the sole or
primary source of funding for the exhibition.

Single artist exhibitions and exhibitions already
scheduled to occur are ineligible for funding under
the program.

Complete guidelines and applications are available at

supports women and men who are developing projects
that address current social issues in the Jewish
