Hi Shikoh Shiraiwa,

I agree with Ms. West. When I worked on an car exhibit and the curator wanted to use old car and gas company commercials as a part of the display. I contacted the media departments of the companies who own the copyright for permission. It will be a hassle but explain that you will not be using them for profit beyond admission to the gallery, if you have such. They are usually understanding and like the free publicity. If you gain permission that is great, but if you do not save any information on the attempts, emails, who you called in the P.R., showing that you made every effort to contact them in the event of blowback. It is better to ask permission than beg for forgiveness in these cases.

Good Luck,
