Just to throw my $1.50 into this mess. . .

Everyone seems to be putting a brick wall between the discussion about paid
internships and the pay rate for jobs.  If you look at it objectively,
there is no difference.  If we expect our internships to be unpaid because
that's the way it is, we, therefore expect our future job to pay very
little.

Then we have some of the same people who complained about us students
wanting pay for our internships now complaining about the little amount of
money they make in their jobs.  So, I'll say the same thing that was said
to students about a month ago:  Get over it.  You didn't get into the
museum business to make money.

Now, having said that.  I agree museum jobs should pay more.   But,
internships should also be paid a little.  The answer is not to increase
wages at the expense of the people coming into these jobs later on.  A
better way to go about it would be to increase wages all the way from
internship to actual job.
