When tracking down WW2 museums, try an important overlapping category, Air and
Space Museums. Many of them are principally concerned with military aviation,
and have all manner of artifacts and expertise relating to WW2 (and WW1) for
that matter.
Ask AAM or the Nat. Air and Space Museum, Off. of Public Programs, for a list.
They mount a joint, active international symposium every year, about this
time, called "Mutual Concerns of Air and Space Museums."
