A museum archivist could give a more informed answer
(there is a chapter within Association of American
Archivists) but my guess is that some museum archives
, but by no means all, are contributing EAD-compliant
records to a number of gateways, such as On-line
Archive of California. A recent Getty project that
touched on this area showed that very few of the
smaller archives in the L.A. area have the means or
incentive to do this.
