I did a project where I gave students those cheap flower pots and had
them decorate them with markers. Once complete, we put the pot in a
bag and smashed it into pieces. Students were given a paper plate and
a bottle of glue and told to put their pot back together. It was a
great exercise for them.

We also took show boxes and placed an item inside and then taped the
box shut. The students had to use their powers of observation
to "guess" what might be in the box.

It was very successful and the kids learned alot about the skills,
processes and sometimes frustrations in trying to "piece together" the
past.
