Deb, no, only women wear saris.  Gandhi typically wore a dhoti or loincloth.
Although I've been to India, I haven't gotten all the clothing styles
straight in my mind, so I'm not sure what the longer, wrap-around garment he wore is
called, although it's admittedly a bit like a sari.  Perhaps someone else
knows...
