when I took oil painting I & II we used De Mar Varnish during the
process of painting and as the final finish, several weeks after the oil
painting was 'dry'. This was to seal the surface and protect it. That
way we could add to with out disturbing what we had done I have never
had to clean one of my class works ( there here some where ) but you
were suppose to be able to do that.
As to the odorless paint thinner, unless your using it to thin the
varnish ( which we did ) I don't understand a reason to use it alone. I
would think you would begin to remove your diorama.
