I am very sorry to tell you that Raymond Singleton died this afternoon
at the age of 85. Many will remember him as Director of Museum Studies
at the University of Leicester.  He had a distinguished museum career
having held museum appointments at Nottingham, Liverpool and
Sheffield - the latter as Director - before going to set up the
Leicester Department in 1966.  He was Chairman of ICOM's Committee for
Training Personnel from 1968-74, He leaves a widow, Hilda, and a son
and daughter.
