The Museum of Texas Tech is circulating the photo exhibit "Blades in the
Sky" for a second tour, due to the success and popularity of the first
tour. The exhibit consists of thirteen 16x20 (framed) black and white
photos with labels, text panels, and a condition report book. The photos
are selections from the book by the same name by T. Lindsay Baker, which
documents the work of windmiller B. H. "Tex" Burdick between 1923 and 1942.
Windmillers like Burdick crisscrossed the Great Plains during the first
half of the century constructing windmills, providing water to formerly dry
areas of the West. The windmill revolutionized farming and stockraising on
the dry plains and prairies of the western United States.

Burdick himself took the photos, and the prints in the exhibit were made
from the original negatives. The exhibit is available for eight-week
venues begining in September, 1996, and will tour through the end of 1997.
The rental fee of the exhibit is $25.00, plus shipping costs to the next
venue. Each venue is responsible for its own insurance coverage.

If interested, please contact me off-list for details. A list of past
venues is available on request.

Thanks
HBC
