For our museum theatre program, we have part-time employees who are
asked about availability.  They are then told a week in advance whether
or not they are needed.  If we don't use them, they are not paid.  If
they don't show up (illness, etc.), they are not paid either.  We do not
guarantee a minimum number of hours.
