JOB DESCRIPTION:



Performs complex work as a Certification Program Coordinator.  The agency

has established a Curatorial Facility Certification Program (CFCP) for

curatorial facilities (museums and repositories) holding state-associated

held-in-trust collections.  This position will oversee the CFCP Program.

Position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented person to help

curatorial facilities succeed in certification.  Additionally, the position

will assist with various agency collections management and outreach

activities and be actively engaged with the Museum Services Program of the

agency.





EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Implement certification program, performing the field reviews, and track

state-associated collections, with secondary duties as assigned.



Reads, manages, and analyzes large amounts of documentation (policies,

plans, procedures, self-studies) submitted by curatorial facilities for

their certification reviews.



Identify potential problems at curatorial facilities and assist in

strengthening their programs.



When working with the Museum Services Program, may be called upon to give

training workshops, provide technical assistance and participate in site

visits to museums.



Position is based in Austin, Texas and requires traveling to museums and

repositories around the state.  Perform other duties as assigned.



GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS (License, Education, Experience):



Master’s degree in Museum Studies/Museum Science with 3 to 5 years

experience required.  Experience working in collections management in an

AAM accredited museum or familiarity with the accreditation process.



Must have a solid foundation in governance and collections management

principles.



The successful candidate will be a fast and accurate reader; have

experience organizing and managing large numbers of files; possess an

understanding of museum operations, have strong written and verbal

communication skills, and possess diplomatic and interpersonal skills.

Experience with archaeological collections a plus.
