The Tech Museum of Innovation
Full-Time Position Available
Development Assistant

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Development Assistant is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the
Director of Corporate Support.  The Development Assistant is responsible
for tracking and processing all corporate donors and prospects by producing
reports, correspondence and proposals to gain and increase support from
corporations.

Responsibilities:
* Be knowledgeable of The Tech's mission, exhibits, programs and long range
plans and stay current with the functioning of the entire institution.
* Manage computerized corporate data base which includes:
                -Donor and contribution records
                -Donor prospect information
                -Information on other constituents such as media,
educators, volunteers, etc.
* Track and implement corporate renewal process and fulfill all corporate
donor benefits.
* Assume responsibility for implementing certain projects related to
corporate support including Corporate Recognition Month and Corporate
Matching Gifts
* Reconcile cash income with Administration Department.
* Provide administrative backup for selected Development Department events.
* Produce fund raising management tools such as mailing lists, labels,
donor reports, pledge reports, letters, etc.
* Provide other support such as filing, photocopying, mailing, record
keeping, event staffing, handling telephone inquiries, etc.
* Work with volunteers to assist in activities outlined above.
* Work as Museum Manager or Assistant Museum Manager on assigned weekend
days and holiday.

Qualifications:
* 2 - 3 years of work experience required.  Non-profit experience preferred.
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
* IBM PC systems experience required, Mac useful.  Must be familiar with
word processing and data base programs (Windows 95 and Blackbaud Raiser's
Edge preferable).
* Analytical, efficient and detail oriented.
* Familiarity with general clerical duties.
* Ability to work with highly confidential information in a fast paced
environment.
* Ability to work independently and creatively while functioning as part of
the development and overall museum team.
* Willingness to work one weekend day a month and availability for special
events.
* Bilingual is a plus.
