As part of its four-year rehousing project, the Department of
Malacology at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia is selling
a final set of collection cabinets. These are large (87" high, 44" wide
and 28" deep) stand-alone steel units with double doors featuring felt
gaskets and suited locks (one key for all). In most cases, the plinth
has been reinforced with an internal timber subframe. The plywood and
steel interior is divided into two bays, with glides for between 56 and
68 drawers. Each is provided with 50 drawers made of white pine and
Masonite. Each drawer measures (internally) 18.5" wide, 24" deep and
1.25" high, and has two sets of label carrier pins on the front face.
These cabinets are ideal for storage of artifacts, especially larger
objects that require flexible shelf spacing. Currently, 40 units are
available. Orders can be for any number up to that, but please note that
these are the last units that will be offered. The base price for one
unit, with 50 drawers, packed and loaded onto customer's vehicle at our
dock at Philadelphia PA, is $300. The department will however negotiate
discounts on orders of more than five units.
Satisfied buyers of previous sets include the New Mexico Museum of
Natural History, the University of Queensland and several private
corporations.
