TRANSCRIPTS FROM 1999 DIRECTORS FORUM RELEASED BY
THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF ARTS

April 28, 2000 ...... The American Federation of Arts announced today the
publication of the session transcripts of the AFA's sixth annual Directors
Forum, held in New York City November 7-9, 1999. The publication contains
the presentations delivered by the distinguished representatives from the
arts, museums, educational and cultural organizations, and the business
community, covering a range of issues.

Titled Directors Choice, the 1999 Directors Forum attracted 96 participants,
a record number, from 30 states and Bermuda. The opening dinner, held at
the National Arts Club, featured Arthur C. Danto, distinguished art critic
and author, as the keynote speaker. The sessions and receptions took place
at eminent institutions including The Cloisters, The Museum of the City of
New York, Christie's, and Hirschl & Adler Galleries.

The Directors Forum, established by the AFA in 1994, provides a singular
opportunity for leaders of smaller art museums to engage eminent leaders in
the museum world, the arts, government, and business, and to network with
colleagues from around the country. The publication of the transcripts is
made possible by The Joe and Emily Lowe Foundation.
