Hi All,

Appalachian State University has a loft in NY and a house in DC. The
NY loft is, I think, 117 E 24th street (near NYU and Baruch College)
and the App House in DC is right behind the capitol and the Folger
Shakespeare Library.

The NY Loft has just been renovated and offers mostly bunks in two
shared rooms and I think only one private room. The App House is
older, but clean and in a great location. If memory serves, the rate
for a bunk is $40 a night and a private room is $50 a night. Now
these are clean, safe and staffed by University personnel...but they
are not luxury living. However, you usually meet great folks on a
visit.

For more info you can visit the ASU website at www.appstate.edu then
click on Academics. Under Academics is a heading for the Loft and
Apphouse. You can also call 828-262-2132.

The University owns these spaces to provide our students, faculty and
staff the opportunity to visit these cities for research,
conferences, or even a little educational fun! So, this may be an
option for some folks...however, if you want a well appointed room
with space you can call all your own...these might not be for you.
Hope this helps!
