If you're in New York on July 12 I'd enjoy seeing you face to
face. And if you know of anyone who might be interested, please pass
this along to them. We plan to open servers in other cities once
we get going.

 Please note that this is a forwarded message, you
are NOT on the ArtNet emailing list (unless you want to be).

-----------------FORWARDED MESSAGE------------------------
Hello,

You are invited to an "ArtNet Event" at HERE, 145 Avenue of the
Americas, at Spring Street in Soho, New York City, 7pm, Tuesday,
July 12th (no admission charge).

We will be demonstrating ArtNet's advanced graphical interface on an
LCD overhead projection system, and talking about the services ArtNet
can offer. We need your comments and feedback.

For ArtNet to be a truly useful service, we need to know what you want
from an online service for the arts. We hope you will take this
opportunity to help us mold ArtNet before our September opening.

Right now, we are looking for artists and arts writers to help
colonize this new cyberspace community. We are offering free
membership to a small group of people willing to dedicate time and
energy toward ArtNet's development. ArtNet is open for beta testers
now. We open to the public in September.

We have the ideal infrastructure, but we need you to make it a
community.

*****************
A LITTLE ABOUT ARTNET
*****************

ArtNet is a BBS dedicated to viewing , discussing and promoting art.
ArtNet's infrastructure was designed from the ground up by and for
artists. It is the only online environment with a complete graphical
user interface (GUI). And we're not just talking about
icons......each window is displayed in 8-bit color.

The following is a list of features available on ArtNet:

** Message Forums including attachments;
** File Libraries with thumbnail sketches;
** Chat and Multi-Node Conferencing;
** Internet Email including attachments;
** and our easy to use Editor, including fonts, size, color, bold,
     underline and italics.

The following is a list of areas currently under development:

** Artists' Studios (set up your own piece of cyberspace with your
     own window);
** Gallery Districts;
** Museums (we anticipate opening with two major New York museums);
** International Digital Art Registry (set up on ArtNet and a WWW
     Mosaic server);
** Opportunities Listings (grants, competitions, exhibition
     opportunities, etc).

Feel free to post part or all of this message for others to read.
