Job Description for Temporary Cataloguing Assistants

Description:
The Museum of Modern Art is looking for cataloguing assistants to perform
data entry functions for a collections and exhibitions management project.
We are searching for candidates who are detail oriented, efficient, and
have good computer skills in Microsoft ACCESS (will provide training if
required). Meeting daily and weekly production goals will be expected.
Persons with an art history background or editorial proofing experience
preferred.

Job responsibilities:
This is a data entry position.  The task is to sort out and re-key data in
a more standardized format which can be easily transferred into the new
collections and exhibitions management system (Gallery Systems). Candidates
will work closely with the curatorial departments on these data entry
tasks.

Cataloguing Assistants are trained on the Gallery Systems collections
management system. Additional responsibilities will include providing user
support on basic concepts for the new system.

Job term: (start date: immediate)
This is a six month position with the possibility of renewal. There will be
a probationary period at the start of this position.  A typing and
proofreading test will be required.
Full-time is preferred but part time can be arranged.  $14/hour (benefits
included after three months for those working over 21 hours per week).
Reports to the Senior Manager for Collection and Exhibition Technologies.
