Sophia,
Buzkashi of course is featured in the great movie "The
Horsemen" with Omar Shariff. It is an excellent view of this
game which I understand outlawed knives from the horseback
comptetition in 1963.

A very similar game is played in Argentina called Pato which I
understand means "duck". A small ball is covered with rawhide
handles and mounted teams try to get the ball down the field
without being trounced by the other team. They then throw the
ball through a huge basketball looking hoop which is verticle
rather than horizontal.

Hope this helps, or at least is interesting.
