Most museums and libraries have the
'International Directory Of Arts', in the vol. I. are the museums, public
galleries and associatons with approx. 1000 pages and a few thousand entries.

Also:
'Der deutsche Museumsfuehrer', Frankfurt: Krueger, several years. This is
a most complete dictionary of German museums. Austrian and swiss museums
guide with the same publisher.
