We are excited to announce new and revamped session formats for the 2015 AAM Annual Meeting & MuseumExpo (http://aam-us.org/events/annual-meeting) in Atlanta! Session formats have been designed in an effort to inspire session organizers to think creatively about interactive and dynamic proposals, and to leave ample time for participant discussion. The entire museum field needs your great ideas, so be sure to submit session proposals early. In fact, the earlier the better; early submission lets colleagues comment on-and improve-your session via our open forum.

Interested in what proposals have already been created? Login to our website to view and comment on what your colleagues are working on: http://aam-us.org/events/annual-meeting/sessions.

Submission Deadline is Aug. 25.

Learn about all the session formats and proposal guidelines in this PDF: http://aam-us.org/docs/default-source/annual-meeting/session-proposal-guidelines-2015-appendices.pdf?sfvrsn=0

New! Conversation Starters: 5-minute back-to-back presentations designed to inspire conversation among participants. The major take-aways in these sessions will be found in peer-to-peer conversations and idea sharing. The theme of the meeting, "The Social Value of Museums: Inspiring Change (http://aam-us.org/events/annual-meeting/2015-annual-meeting-theme)" offers a deeper understanding about the critical role museums play in social development to address a diverse range of social and human needs. These sessions will explore this role through quick examples of one of three topics:
1. How are museums addressing human and social needs through their programs, practices & operations?
2. What benefits derive from the social role of museums and how is success measured?
3. How do museums identify the social problems that we have the capacity to help solve? What strategies should we employ?

New! Case Study: 30-minute sessions featuring a single speaker sharing solutions, successes, challenges and/or best practices followed by audience feedback. These are a quick exchange of ideas and examples of "what worked for me" with clear participant takeaways that can be applied to their own museum or organization.

New! Talk Show: 75-minute panel discussions in a conversational, talk show style format that allows participants to get involved and discuss issues, challenges and solutions. Panelists representing a diverse range of perspectives will be guided in conversation by a skilled Moderator.

Debate: This format is an effective way to present opposing views about a topic. Debates will be lively and involve audience polling and questions.

Storytelling: Sessions focusing on actual situations, programs and projects using the art of storytelling. Stories will be personalized and descriptive; participants may be encouraged to share their own stories and experiences.

The Classroom: This format demonstrates tools and resources to help participants perform their jobs more effectively. Sessions are highly interactive and collaborative tutorials, and demonstrate specific applications and outcomes.

Lessons from the International Community: A single case study that provides a presenter from an international museum or organization to highlight an innovative museum program, project, exhibition or research. Presentations must be delivered in English.
