I am needing advice on how to kill powderpost beetles. These beetles are in
two large mantles. I have removed and isolated them from the collection
area. Our director wants to know what pesticide to use, and I suggested
creating an anoxic environment for them. Freezing is not an option, because
we do not have a freezer large enough for these objects.

Although he has decided on pesticide use, I would still like to propose the
anoxic method. I think, in the end, he is more concerned about finding a
quick and easy solution. Could someone point me to a solution for an anoxic
environment 'kit' that would be simple and easy to create.

Also, since he has asked, could someone provide suggestions for the use of a
pesticide for these two mantles? Which chemical is suggested? Is there a
link to a web-site or information that you can suggest?

Thanks,

Susan
