I must agree with the responses given to this posting. I read the editorial
called ³Tribute to the United States² and was pleased by the kind and
supportive statements made by our Canadian neighbor. So I was saddened to
read Ms. Svensson¹s posting. Perhaps, as English is not her first language,
she does not understand that an editorial is an opinion piece which is meant
to express the thoughts and ideas of an individual; not a report which is
intended to convey facts. It was the sentiment which was gratifying, rather
than the details. I was also very moved when the ³Star Spangled Banner² was
played by a British military band at Buckingham Palace. I am under no
illusion that all English people love us whole-heartedly. It was just a nice
gesture which was greatly appreciated.

Many Americans are experiencing levels of shock, fear, grief, and anger
which are greater than they have known in their lifetime. That makes Ms.
Svensson¹s comments particularly disheartening. Her assertions about
American arrogance and stupidity were, at best, ill-timed.
