A local rehabilitation center has contacted us about donating an iron
lung. We don't need it in our collection, so I thought I would post it
and see if anyone was interested in the artifact.
If you would like to speak with the donor or see images, please contact
me off list.

The plaque on the unit says:

“Presented to The Columbus Territory, January 30, 1942 by The Columbus
Exchange Club”. (This refers to Columbus, Mississippi.)

The information plate has the following information:
Emerson Respirator
Model No. TRC
Serial No. 1
Made in USA
US Patent No. 2060706
Designed and manufactured by the originators of the modern diaphragm
type of “iron lung”
J.H. Emerson Co.
22 Cottage Park Ave.
Cambridge Mass.
