Hi Indigo!

Funny. And I thought that Museum-L was also about the
process by which museum professionals present information to
the public. This includes methodology, the crux of this
thread about corsets, foot binding, about cultural
relativism. Right?

If you prefer greater relevance to issues today, we could
shift gears to discuss how historical information presented
from a biased point of view is considered "historical
revisionism" . . . such as over-emphasis on the 'greatness'
of Western civilization, and the supposed inferiority of
non-Western cultures who would dare to conduct cultural
affairs (foot binding, female genital mutilation, etc.)
according to non-Western standards.

What you see as rancor, I see as lively discussion. (I'd
rather have lively discussion than boring discussion.)

Sincerely,

Jay Heuman, Visitor & Volunteer Services Coordinator
