Art Beyond Sight—a New York City based non-profit that seeks to increase art education and accessibility for those with disabilities has recently launched Project Access, the first national online database of accessible arts and cultural organizations within the United States.

To date, over 200 organizations have registered; nearly 30 of those are located in New York City including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Central Park Zoo, American Museum of Natural History, Intrepid Sea and Air Museum, and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. We have a long way to go to make this site really useful to people with disabilities in NYC, their families, and caregivers. Please help by registering your institution today.

Just go to: www.projectaccessforall.org

Five major organizations are partnering with ABS on the project, each urging its members to register. They are: American Association of Museums (AAM), the American Association of State and Local History (AASLH), the Association of Children’s Museums, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC).

There is no charge for registering on the site, and it takes just 10 to 15 minutes.

Each organization has complete control over its listing and can update it as often as needed.

If you have questions regarding Project Access or Art Beyond Sight please contact me at (212) 334-8723. I am also available to stop by your office to assist in filling out the form. Please let me know when is most convenient for you and we can schedule a date.
