James is right to broaden the discussion.

In fact, there was a terrific accessibility session at AAM that included
simulations of learning disabilities.  Perhaps in Dallas?  I
particularly recall how labels, graphics, and sounds would be perceived
by visitors with Dyslexia or with Attention Deficit Disorder.  I think
the materials were part of a museum's staff training program.

Does anyone recall whose program this was?  Perhaps a mid-Western art
museum?

This is a good discussion of visible handicaps, but what about
non-visible such as learning disabilities?  Why do museums not address
this issue even though if falls under the Americans with Disabilities
Act?
