Hi Peter
Have you come across the work of Jane McGonigal? She's the Director of
Game Research and Development at the Institute for the Future. She's
also written articles and given presentation on ways in which gaming
might help shape the future of museums.

Subject: Re: [MUSEUM-L] Use of Social Media Tools

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. All of your comments are
useful and helpful. Do you think that museums would benefit (and how) if
games and such were designed or existed at various appropriate levels
that encouraged awareness/experience/engagement, etc., at museums.
Again, I feel that we are at early stages as far as the potential of
these tools for the museum community. Or, perhaps, existing tools should
just be left alone while museums develop their own means of
'communicating' online with their many audiences. Museum-developed
systems might then incorporate some of those strategies that are being
used with collection or exhibit presentation? Any examples as yet?
