You can always register both, but only use the .org (with its not-for-profit implication) in your promotional material, and have the .com redirect to the .org site, so even if visitors type .com they end up at .org. Similarly with the email address, I would suggest using the .org as the official address, but make sure that .com-addressed emails get delivered to you as well. This kind of redirection is trivial to set up.
