Title:   Project Coordinator

Project Description:
The YYT project involves the relocation of a rural Chinese house to the
Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts (PEM), opening to the public in
mid-June 2003.  This position is to support the installation of artifacts in
the house and in the related interpretive gallery.

Scope:
The scope of this role is to provide temporary general project management to
a Foundation, which is a sponsor of the project, until July 2003.  Incumbent
must be able to manage own administrative workload.

Responsibilities:
*       Create DVD for use in PEM resource center: coordinate production of
DVD with external film company, and PEM staff.  Must manage schedule and
project to deadlines for completion May 1, 2003.  Will negotiate contract
and manage billing.
*       Manage the schedule for the completion of two short films for use in
the PEM interpretive center.
*       Manage interview process for mount-maker to complete "tie down" of
objects installed in the house.  Negotiate contract and manage billing.
*       Coordinate all interaction between outside lenders and PEM related
to house installation.  Develop and manage schedule for installation of
objects in house, working with Registrars and Collections Care Managers and
appropriate staff at the PEM.  Responsible for scheduling delivery and
installation and "tie down" of objects.
*       Supervision of archiving of Chinese photographs and video for
project
*       Handle all requests for images, including copying photos and
coordinating rights and reproductions
*       Assist in coordinating opening events as needed prior to opening
*       Help analyze and document operations and procedures for historic
house museum.  Assist with the development of a preventative maintenance
plan
*       Organize existing project files into archive
*       Administrative tasks as needed

Requirements:
*       Very strong organizational skills
*       Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel,
Outlook)
*       Very strong project management experience
*       Museum exhibition and/or non-profit experience a plus
