Yoshiko,

There are lots of legal issues that can potentially come up in any museum,
especially in the registrar's position. How often depends upon the type of
museum and its size and acquisition/lending activity. As has been
mentioned, copyright is one area where a law background would be helpful,
but museums are also concerned with insuring good title to donations, making
donors aware of tax implications of their donations (especially in
situations where their deduction might be less than the value of the
donation). If the museum loans to or lends from other countries, there are
legal requirements which must be met, and others which ought to be, to
insure the safe return of objects. The Smithsonian maintains its own legal
office to meet such needs, but I don't know for certain of any other museum
which carries a lawyer on staff.

I mentioned the registrar, but it occurs to me that such knowledge would
also be useful to the chief executive in a museum, perhaps as an executive
assistant? (You don't just walk into the executive positions, an assistant
is a place to start.)
