When your institution is offered an artist's estate, how much do you accept?
A percentage? A set number of works? What is the maximum number of works
you accept?

How do you decide which works to take? Do you select the best of each
medium from each stylistic period or from each decade of the artist's life?
Do you base your selection on subject matter?

Who makes the selection? Is it an individual or a team process? If the
latter, who is on the team?

Do you only accept an estate if accompanied by an endowment? Would you
accept more works if the estate is endowed to a greater extent? What is
usually covered by the endowment?

Do you have a written policy to deal with this issue? If so, is it part of
your Collection Development or Collection Management Plan? Would you be
willing to share this policy?
