Actually, the board did not "order" the zoo to do this.
This was an agreement of compromise reached by the board, the community
members who wanted the display of creationism, and zoo personnel.
Yes, the zoo does have an panels and representations that includes
several versions of the creation
Of the earth and occupants, from various sources including evolution,
and depictions of animal gods and goddesses.
It did not include creationism, (Why - because the gods are not animals
- not bif conspiracy) which is being added
to a blank wall that exists within the rest of the walls displaying the
stories.
Note also that the community members who are asking it be added are
paying for the installation.

"The pro-creationism folks say the door was opened by the
Zoo when they put the info and icons on other religions in the Zoo."
This is true,
The original guy who brought this up at the board meeting did say this
to the media,
but the board meeting Was peaceful and a level headed compromise was
reached.

It is really not as controversial as the paper or the information is
making it sound.
The media is really hyping it up, but the issue is resolved..

Subject: Tulsa Zoo and Creationism

Hello listers,
Without going into the religious side of the
discussion, I thought I'd bring this up to you folks.
The Tulsa Zoo has been ordered by its board to install
an exhibit on creationism. The zoo has an exhibit on
evolution, but what really got folks riled was a hindu
statue of an elephant (Ganesha), and a piece of art
that says "the earth is our mother." The
pro-creationism folks say the door was opened by the
Zoo when they put the info and icons on other
religions in the Zoo. There is info on the Tulsa World
and Daily Oklahoman web pages, but you must go through
the free registration process to read the articles.
Cheers
