It's always 18 May (established by the International Council of Museums -
ICOM - with UN support on 18 May 1977).

The 2001 international theme is "Museums: building communities" - see
http://www.icom.org/imd2001.html for the latest news and reports of
examples of IMD activities around the world in 1999 and 2000.
