THAT IS HILARIOUS! I am glad no one posted it to list, though I think it
obvious it is a joke. Thanks for posting the link. I printed it and will
take it to my final Museology class this evening. It will be a sure hit!
Perhaps it is the age, (I had a Malibu Barbie) or the fact I have a 2 year
old daughter, but I find that just TOO amusing. Since I work with an urban
archeologist, I have often wondered what weird conclusions scientist of the
future would draw if they dug up the back yard of my childhood home. Now,
I have to wonder what the next person who digs a flower bed will think.
Just too funny.

You can find the full text on the Urban Legends Reference Pages
http://www.snopes.com by putting Barbie in the search feature. The direct
URL is http://www.snopes.com/humor/letters/smithson.htm. This hoax/humor
letter has been posted twice to museum-l so please don't post it again.

Greetings:

I wanted to forward a copy of the letter that was posted on this list serve
in the past. It was form a guy that had been sending the Smithsonian
curator
stuff he dug up in his back yard. In this letter it was a Malibu Barbie
head. The first time I read it I could not stop laughing. Does anyone have
a
copy of this letter? I would have checked the archives, but I wasn't sure
of
the title, etc.

I sure would appreciate any assistance. I would even suggest posting it on
the list. It will bring a smile to all who read it.

Thank you in advance!

J. McCormick
